Locally and internationally recognized

Additional training programmes

In addition to the vocational qualifications the following programs are integrated into our delivery:

Life Skills Training
Every student at Luminus is required to complete training called ‘Passport to Success’ licensed from the International Youth Foundation’s life skills program. The training aims to prepare young people for the world of work. It adheres to ‘best practice’ standards focusing on ten widely endorsed life skills in response to the identified needs of youth, employers, youth-serving organizations and other key stakeholders. These include self-confidence, responsibility and respect and employability.

Entrepreneurship Training
Every student at Luminus receives training in entrepreneurship specifically, the Build Your Business (BYB) training developed by Microsoft and the International Youth Foundation. At the end of their formal program, Luminus provides its students with access to a business incubator for those business ideas that show commercial promise. Developing entrepreneurship and employability skills has been a core activity for more than 5 years.

English Language
For longer programs and those assessed in English there is a comprehensive language development program. For short courses and/or those delivered in Arabic with a requirement for industry or job specific vocabulary in English, specific provision is provided that focus on language for the workplace.

Employer Links & Demand Driven Curriculum

All Luminus programs are developed with the underlying principle of education4employment. To ensure we are able to deliver on this, Luminus works closely with employers in all target sectors not only to consult on the syllabus content and skills required by industry but also to provide guaranteed jobs following successful completion of the course. Consequently, Luminus is well placed to work with employers to develop appropriate curriculum and also to secure meaningful apprenticeships and long term employment opportunities. In addition, Luminus has the following facilities:

Career Counselling
Every student at AQC has access to Career Counselling services where trained career counsellors offer support, information and guidance pertinent to the programs and courses. The Career Counsellor is able to explain the components of the selected program including its technical outcomes and competencies, employability skills, requirements of their training and available job opportunities.

Career Fairs
AQC organizes and conducts career fairs once a year for employers to share information about available jobs, their expectations and job requirements. These career fairs give students the opportunity to interact with the private sector employers (from relevant sectors), submit their CVs and be interviewed. These fairs further cement links with employers.

Finding Employment Opportunities to support education
As many students have to earn-to learn, counsellors also work to find part-time jobs for students during their period of study, allowing them to access microfinance and pay fees. In addition, Counsellors help students by publicizing job opportunities for full time employment on graduation. The latter is done in conjunction with the Departmental teams who have close links with employers.

SAE, Luminus creative media school
Students engage in various job opportunities and internship programs once they have completed their first year and all throughout the remainder of their studies. On graduation they become part of SAE Amman Alumni network. An assigned Alumni officer looks after SAE Alumni and helps to arrange events, industry expert talks, seminars, and most importantly to facilitate job opportunities. As lecturers are all industry experts, a good portion of employment happens through direct recommendation by faculty. SAE has established live Radio stations broadcasting and operating from inside our college campus. Other examples of industry partners are all main Radio stations, Roya TV station, and various production houses and media agencies.
